I: Consult a Commercial Disaster-Recovery Center
Issue: Many companies use offsite disaster-recovery facilities from a variety of commercial sources such as Sungard or IBM. While these companies are especially well-adapted to this purpose, they still can’t single-handedly recover everything for an organization. This fact creates unique challenges for the telecommunications department, from an internal communications perspective as well as in terms of command-and-control communications.
Action: Address all of the factors involved with moving into someone else’s data center or telecommunications hub temporarily. Items J–N in the following sections cover some of the issues.
