Introduction
This article is the second in a three-part series that discusses the System Global Area (SGA) enhancements available with Oracle9i. Part 1, "Working with Multiple Block Sizes," discussed the problems associated with one database block size prior to Oracle9i, as well as the support for multiple block sizes in Oracle9i. The focus of Part 2 is the proper sizing of the database cache so as to improve the hit/miss ratio of the buffer cache.
