The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 makes it easy for you to type text into the device using the on-screen keyboard. This saves you money because you don’t have to purchase a separate physical keyboard and perhaps bring that extra piece of hardware when you’re on the go. However, the Tab 4 makes it easy for you to customize how you enter information into the on-screen keyboard so you can make typing faster and easier.
You can do this by accessing and changing settings in the Samsung Keyboard Settings screen. Start by tapping the Apps icon in the Home screen and then tapping Settings in the Apps screen. In the Settings screen, tap Controls in the blue menu bar at the top of the screen. The Language and Input settings list appears on the right side of the screen by default as shown in Figure 1.

Within the Keyboards and Input section, you see that the Samsung Keyboard is the default keyboard. You can change the keyboard settings by tapping the settings icon, which looks like a cog, to the right of the Samsung Keyboard setting in the list. The Samsung Keyboard Settings screen appears as shown in Figure 2.

Add and Change Input Languages
The Input Languages section appears at the top of the screen and shows the input language reflects the default language you specified when you set up the Tab 4. You can add more input languages by tapping Select Input Languages. Next, you may see an Input Languages window asking you to download a new language that’s now available for you. Install the new language by tapping OK.
The Samsung Keyboard screen appears with a list of languages that have already been downloaded within the Downloaded Languages section shown in Figure 3. The checkbox next to your default language is checked by default. If the Tab 4 needs to update a downloaded language with new information, tap the Update button to the left of the checkbox.

Add a new keyboard language by tapping the checkbox to the right of the language name. If you don’t see your language, swipe down the screen to view all the languages you can download in the Available Languages section. Tap on the language name to download the language and add it to the Downloaded Languages section list.
Once the language is added to the system as a downloaded language, add the language to your keyboard by tapping the checkbox to the right of the language name in the Downloaded Languages section. Return to the Samsung Keyboard Settings screen by tapping the left arrow icon at the left side of the blue menu bar at the top of the screen. You’ll see the language you added within the Input Languages section of the screen. The default language appears first in the list.
You won’t see the added language until you use the keyboard in an app. For example, when you open the keyboard in the Memo app you’ll see the globe key to the right of the space bar as shown in Figure 4. Tap the globe key to change the keyboard to the next input language in the Input Languages list.

The name of the language you’re using for the keyboard appears in the space bar. The keyboard characters and/or arrangement change as you change the keyboard language.
