Creating and Showing Off Journals
If a single photo is worth a thousand words, imagine what you could say by grouping a collection of your photos to tell a story. This is what the new Journal tool is used for. Think of a Journal as a digital collage, with a personalized theme.
After selecting a collection of photos to be included in a Journal, select the Journal option. Start by adding an original title to your journal, and then choose a theme.
iPhoto offers six different Journal themes, including Cotton, Border, Denim, Light, Dark, and Mosaic. After choosing your theme, tap on the Create Journal command icon. The app automatically creates the Journal, which will take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on how many photos are being included. Figure 8 shows a sample journal, created using the Border theme.

Once the basic Journal has been formatted, you can personalize it by moving around photos, resizing images, adding captions, including maps, displaying dates, or even showing the current whether when the image was taken (if it was shot using the iPhone or iPad).
Just like individual photos, Journals can be viewed on the iPhone or iPad’s screen, published online, or shared via email. As you’re viewing a Journal, you can tap on a single image to view it in full-screen mode, and then switch back to the Journal view.
