A Roundup of Other New LinkedIn Features
Here's a quick roundup of even more new LinkedIn features:
- LinkedIn InMapsEver want to view a visual map of your entire LinkedIn network? LinkedIn InMaps enables you to do just that. To access your InMap, visit http://inmaps.linkedinlabs.com while signed in to LinkedIn. In order for your InMap to provide meaningful data, you must have at least 50 connections and at least 75 percent of your profile complete. If you meet these requirements, your InMap displays a color-coded representation of your LinkedIn network that you can zoom to view in more detail, label, and share with your network.
- LinkedIn SwarmLinkedIn Swarm (http://swarm.linkedinlabs.com) is another visual LinkedIn tool. With Swarm, shown in Figure 7, you can view a moving tag cloud of LinkedIn activity over the past hour. Swarm analyzes company and title searches, jobs posted, blog entries, and shared articles. In other words, it provides real-time insight into what's hot and trending on LinkedIn.
- Hotmail Active ViewsIn collaboration with Microsoft, LinkedIn now provides access to your LinkedIn network right in your Hotmail inbox. For example, when you connect with new people, you can view their connections and the companies they follow directly in Hotmail.
- Snaptu Mobile AppIf you use a traditional feature phone rather than a smartphone (such as an iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android), you can still access your LinkedIn network on the go. The Snaptu mobile app (http://snaptu.com/download) offers a smartphone-like experience on thousands of feature phones.

With so many new LinkedIn features, applications, and tools, there's sure to be something interesting for every LinkedIn user to try. Some might only be worth a quick look, but others could become an integral part of how you use LinkedIn.
