Creating a profile and connecting with others is only the beginning. To truly generate results on LinkedIn, you need the right people to find you. Here are seven ways to increase your chances of getting found on LinkedIn.

#1: Identify Who You Want to Attract

To increase your LinkedIn findability, you need to be clear about who you want to find you. Are you a jobseeker looking to attract the attention of recruiters and hiring managers? Or are you an entrepreneur using LinkedIn to gain visibility and connect with potential clients and partners? Put yourself in the shoes of your target audience. How would they locate someone like you on LinkedIn?

For example, recruiters often perform a people search to find candidates with specific skills, experience, or credentials that match the positions they’re trying to fill. On the other hand, someone looking to hire a CPA or web designer might perform either a people search or search for a company or service provider. Finally, LinkedIn members could discover your products and services by chance through your LinkedIn Groups and Answers participation.
