Summary
We've considered several ways to include sound in a GWT application, applied deferred binding to determine which version of the code to use, and experimented with Flash libraries for a more generic way of solving the problem. The techniques used here for getting audio could also be applied, with little change, to showing video output. Though we'll still have to wait for a while before browsers implement multimedia standards, the good news is that we already have the necessary capabilities to show such output in our GWT applications.
