Flipping Rows and Columns

Transposing (flipping rows and columns) is a special copy feature you might need to use if you want to change the layout of your worksheet. For example, suppose your worksheet is set up with quarters in rows and divisions in columns, but that your boss prefers the opposite: quarters in columns and divisions in rows. In a case such as this one, you can flip the worksheet.

1.gif Select the range you want to transpose.

2.gif Click the Copy button on the Standard toolbar.

3.gif Click the first cell in which you want to paste the range.

4.gif Open the Edit menu and choose Paste Special to open the Paste Special dialog box.

5.gif Click the Transpose check box to mark it.

6.gif Click OK.

7.gif The range is transposed (or flipped).
