FAQs

Question 1: Page 729 'Each sheet in a workbook also has a Name property....' I found that changing the name in the Name Property of the sheet did not update the name on the sheet tab (which is in brackets in the Project window), just in the Project window itself.

Solution 1: These instructions do work. Please try the following simple routine:

Sub TabName()
Dim strNewName As String
strNewName = InputBox("Enter the new name") Sheets(1).Name = strNewName
End Sub

Any name I enter in response to the input box becomes the tab text for the sheet. I don't see any other property of either the Sheet or Worksheet objects that would have a similar effect.

Question 2: Page 739 - How to enter VBA code - 2nd bullet: 'If the line of code is very long ....' The example doesn't seem to make sense in that a line continuation character is defined (_) and then not used in the illustration.

Solution 2: You are correct, and this appears to be a production error. The second code example should read as follows:

Selection.MoveDown Unit:=wdLine _
Count:=2 _
Extend:=wdExtend

Question 3: How do I install this CD?

Solution 3: Run the file called INDEX.HTM from the CD. This will take you through everything you need.

Question 4: Page 542- It says to go to the Tools Menu and select the Data Analysis Option. This option is not there.

Solution 4: You need to install the Analysis ToolPak as shown on page 512 in order to have this option.

Question 5: Will this work on a Macintosh?

Solution 5: It does not work on a Macintosh.

Question 6: Where are the example files that are shown in the book e.g. VBA_Ch33 etc?

Solution 6: You will need to run the VBA_Code.exe file that is in the VBA_Code folder on the CD. This will install all of the VBA examples.
