Addison-Wesley has partnered with Steve Kochan and his team at ClassroomM, Inc. to bring you Part Three of Live Online Training: Objective-C Foundation Framework: Writing Your First iOS App — web-based training in iOS (iPhone and iPad) application development. This training enables you to have the benefits of face-to-face training without having to travel. Raise your hand, ask questions, discuss with your classmates, complete assignments and be a part of an active online forum.

Objective-C Foundation Framework: Writing Your First iOS App is designed for new Cocoa and iOS programmers who want to learn how to use the basic Foundation Framework classes. Understanding how to work with these classes is critical to efficiently developing iOS applications. You will learn how to work with number and string objects and the difference between immutable and mutable objects. In addition, Steve will show you how to work with collections: arrays, dictionaries and sets. Additional topics covered include working with files as well as copying and archiving objects. The lecture on memory management also includes coverage of the new Automated Reference Counting (ARC) feature that is coming in XCode 4.2.

This series of six sessions continues the training in Objective-C started in Parts One and Two. Session dates and topics are listed under the SCHEDULE tab.  Based on Steve's best-selling book, Programming in Objective-C 2.0, you can jump-start your iOS development career. If you know any other programming language and want to start developing for the iOS platform, this is the place to start, but you do not need to know any other object oriented language, including C, to be successful. If you have a Mac computer and have downloaded and installed Apple's free developer tools, you are ready to go!

Didn’t take Part One or Two? You can purchase the recorded version of Part One and Part Two. Or you can catch up, on your own by reading Chapters 1-13 in Steve's book.

    Benefits of this course include:
    • Access to six live sessions, scheduled on the same day each week. Listen, watch, ask questions and learn from Steve Kochan, who literally "wrote the book" on iPhone application development.
    • You can watch the session from a computer or portable device, including an iPad.
    • Downloadable or streaming versions of each session – convenient for times when you can not attend or would like to review any part of the training.
    • Membership in the online forum. Here you can ask specific questions, either of Steve or your classmates.
    • Special discounts on additional stand alone sessions from industry leaders.
    • An electronic copy of the brand new Third Edition of Steve's Programming in Objective-C 2.0, a reference book you will use for years to come.
