Bill von Hagen

Bill von Hagen has worked on Unix systems for 20 years as a system administrator, developer, writer, development manager, and content manager. He has been a Linux fan since 1993, and has an avid fan of advanced filesystems since working at Carnegie-Mellon University in the 1980s.

Bill has written for Linux Magazine, Linux Format, Maximum Linux, Mac Tech, and Mac Home magazines; and for Corel and CMP Media online. He is the author of Linux Filesystems (SAMS, 2001, ISBN 0672322722), Installing Red Hat Linux 7 (SAMS, 2000, ISBN: 0672318261), and SGML for Dummies (Hungry Minds, 1997, ISBN 0764501755). He is currently working on a book on Mac OS X.

By day (and often by night), Bill works as the Content Manager for TimeSys Corporation (http://www.timesys.com), a leading vendor of embedded and real-time Linux. In his spare time, Bill collects workstations and microcomputers (http://www.vonhagen.org/collection.html), and long ago performed as a drummer for a variety of punk and garage rock bands, appearing on a number of records and CDs.
