Barbara Liskov

Barbara Liskov is professor of computer science at MIT. She is an Institute Professor, the highest honor awarded by MIT's faculty and administration. Well known for her contributions to programming methodology and software engineering, she is co-author (with John Guttag) of the influential book, Abstraction and Specification in Program Development. She is also the 2008 recipient of the A.M. Turing Award, one of the highest honors in science and engineering.
