Jan Filochowski is the CEO of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Prior to that, he spent over thirty years in healthcare management, the first ten as a policy maker in government, the next fifteen running large organisations – mainly hospitals – and five as a turnaround specialist and trouble-shooter in the National Health Service.
As a trouble-shooter he has worked with 30 to 40 organisations who have been challenged, were in difficulty or in deep failure. He has helped diagnose where they were, the root causes of their problems, and then helped them find ways back to organisational health and achievement.
Jan’s career has been punctuated by two academic stints, the first ten years ago as a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University, where he studied process redesign and lean management. The second was as a NHS University Fellow at the Judge Business School at Cambridge University in 2004–5.
