Maria Azua

Maria Azua is the Vice President of Cloud Computing for the IBM Enterprise Initiatives. She is responsible for the technical implementation, deployment, and operations of the Common Cloud Platform offering as well as external development cloud. She is also responsible for the creation of a vibrant and engaged community of ISVs, Business Partners, and technical community to foster cloud computing IT applications. Prior to this assignment, Maria was the VP of Technology and Innovation for the IBM CIO office and focused on the development of innovative IT solutions and integration of new technologies. Her responsibilities included IT infrastructure/technology enhancements, and improving the productivity and work life of IBMers through innovation. She established the IBM TAP innovation program with more than 125,000 employees now participating. She has created and deployed a wide variety of state-of-the-art social networking tools and programs for the enterprise.

Maria has earned worldwide recognition for her contribution to technology innovation and her business leadership. She was inducted into the Women In Technology International (WITI) Hall of Fame, and named one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics" by People Magazine in 2006. She has 48 patents and 41 pending patents that span a wide spectrum of technologies including telecommunications, web servers, Transcoder technology, Java implementation and enhancements, and data manipulation.
