Michael Hawkins is an IT consultant specializing in IT strategies, design, implementation, management and security. He is also co-author of several books about implementing and managing distributed-computing environments including Managing the New Enterprise, Networking the New Enterprise, and Data Warehousing: Architecture and Implementation. Mr. Hawkins has more than 20 years, serving large companies in the oil and financial sectors. In 1980 he joined the Distributed Processing Division of a large oil company in Saudi Arabia where he was involved with a large international network for five years. He joined a large regional bank in the Philippines in 1984 where he was head of technical planning and security. He is currently a consultant designing, implementing and managing large IT environments for a variety of companies in Asia. He earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley; M.S. degree in Computer Science from Ateneo de Manila University; and an M.A. degree in Economics from the University of Oklahoma.
