Set Font Book's Preferences

Font Book has only two preferences to set—the default install location and whether or not it should validate fonts (check them for corruption) before they're installed—but these are two very important items. Here's all you have to do:

  1. In Font Book, choose Font Book > Preferences.
  2. Choose a default location from the pop-up menu.

The pop-up menu, shown in Figure 10, varies based on the libraries (standard and user-defined) available in Font Book. See Table 8, page 65, for help in deciding what you should set as the default.

The choices in the Default menu depend on what's available in Font Book. The last item in the menu here is a user-defined library.

  3. Check Validate Fonts Before Installing so a font's health is always verified before it's installed.
