Conclusion

In this article, I showed you the value of a thriving professional network. Additionally, I’ve given you some tips on how to organize your contacts to cultivate those relationships. With our busy lives and careers, it is easy to undervalue this critical skill. Day-to-day tasks and projects seem to push networking activity into the realm of "When I have some time, I’ll get to it."

Don’t fall into that trap. I tell conference attendees to check for their pulse. When they do I explain that finding their pulse is a guarantee that they will experience a negative career or professional event in the next 10 years. A thriving professional network is one of the simplest and most effective antidotes to such events. Make networking a part of your overall career or business strategy. You will be glad you did.
