Migrating Your Firefox Plugins

If you have Firefox plugins—such as Flash or Shockwave plugins—on your full version of Firefox that you want to also have in your Portable Firefox installation, it requires a bit of special attention. Fortunately, the labor required is simply a copy and paste as we did before to migrate our profile data. Copy all the files in your full Firefox installation’s plugin directory. Under default installation, this would be C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins (see Figure 6).

Again, first make sure that Firefox is closed. Next, navigate to the plugins directory of your thumb drive Portable Firefox installation (for example, F:\PortableFirefox\plugins) and paste your copied contents to this destination directory.

The next time you launch Portable Firefox from your thumb drive, you should see the plugins you have on your full Firefox installation.
