Gathering the Materials

Because you’re reading this article, I assume that you have a USB thumb drive to carry out your study. The size of the drive you need will range depending on how many and which extensions you have added to Firefox. Given that the prices of USB thumb drives have plummeted lately, you should consider getting a USB drive of at least 128MB. I would seriously suggest a USB 2.0 drive as opposed to the slower USB 1.1 brethren.

Next, you need to download a version of Firefox made to be portable (and simply called Portable Firefox). Portable Firefox, which is available only for the Windows platform, is published by John T. Haller and Mozilla and can be downloaded here.

Portable Firefox , which is currently in version 1.5.0, ships as a zip file.
