Preparing Your Hard Drive

Before you start hooking things up, you need to make sure your hard drive has its jumper settings set so that the drive is respected as a single drive. This jumper setting will vary among hard drive brands; check the website of your hard drive manufacturer to see what the proper jumper settings for your drive should be. Many times, the jumper setting information is physically inscribed on the hard drive itself.
