When you start Outlook Express, it checks for any new messages and then downloads them to your computer. New mail messages are marked in bold and are listed in your Inbox. You can open any messages by double-clicking it.
Often, new mail is created in response to an existing message; you can simply reply. You also have the option of forwarding a message or creating a new message from scratch.
Along with a message, you can also attach a filepretty much any type of document. For instance, it's common to send pictures or share documents via email. In addition to sending attachments, you may also receive email messages with attachments that you can open or save to your computer. Be sure to take precautions against viruses if you share documents.
To stay organized, keep your Inbox uncluttered. Delete messages you don't need in your Inbox and other mail folders. If you want to save a message, move it out of the Inbox to another folder.
To avoid errors and save time, set up an address book of your email contacts. You can then select a name from a list when creating a message rather than typing the address.
