Conclusion

In a world where trade is increasingly electronic, many international customers prefer to have control of the physical infrastructure. Software on Demand services must provide the flexibility to locate hardware anywhere in the world and allow the customer to balance the complex legal and technical issues in making the right decision.

Now that you know how to locate the computers, let's move on to the challenges of managing them. The next five chapters are devoted to individually discussing the challenges of managing security, availability, performance, problems, and change in complex software environments. Within each chapter, various computer-powered software solutions are discussed. Some of these are being implemented today in production systems; some are still in the research phase at some of the world's best universities. All are part of the fabric of the steps we must take.
