Indianapolis, IN—Today, Que Certification announced the acquisition of Exam Cram, America's best-selling IT training certification books with more than 2 million copies sold. Under the name Exam Cram2, Que will produce six new guides on IT exam strategies in the fourth quarter of 2002. An imprint of Pearson Technology Group, Que Certification is part of Pearson (NYSE: PSO), the international media company.

"We believe Exam Cram can push us to the top of the certification market. We'll be the best source for an increasing number of people who need IT certification and we'll provide new content from an established brand with a loyal audience," David Culverwell, Que publisher said.

Pearson purchased Exam Cram's worldwide English-language distribution from literary agency Waterside Productions. Waterside will retain the foreign translation rights. Ed Tittel, the IT industry certification expert who developed the original Exam Cram series, will serve as Series Editor for all Exam Cram2 titles. "Exam Cram works for those who want a pre-exam 'tune-up.' The attention to information that matters has made Exam Cram the most widely used series in the world," Tittel said.

Que Certification will also improve the Exam Cram2 offerings with:

  • a CD-ROM featuring PrepLogic™ Practice Tests – developed by certified IT professionals –with two study modes, realistic questions and customizations, and detailed score reports.

  • tear-out "Cram Sheets" with tips, acronyms and memory cues to help students study efficiently and effectively;

  • a full-featured website, www.examcram.com, with industry news, study tips, and practice questions and answers.

A team of industry experts will review all Exam Cram2 titles for completeness and accuracy before giving them a "CramSession Approved Study Material Seal of Approval."

Purchasing Exam Cram is Pearson's latest effort to expand its IT and computer-technology titles:

  • The Deitel Developer Series, by IT experts Harvey and Paul Deitel, is new from Prentice Hall's Professional Technical Reference Group with treatments of emerging technologies, including .NET, J2EE and Web services.

  • PTR's best-selling guide for Java 2 programmers, Core Java 2, Volume 1, is updated for SDK 1. Java's sixth edition includes regular expressions, high-performance "New I/O," assertions, Preferences, Swing enhancements and object-oriented Java development.
