SharePoint Team Services
Many network administrators do not have time to be Web designers as well as network administrators, and most do not have the creative skill for Web design. SharePoint makes it easy to create Web sites that are fully functional for internal use.
SharePoint Team Services (SPTS)
SPTS is a new Microsoft technology that has been built to integrate in with the Windows .NET Server family. SPTS works along with Internet Information Services (IIS) to host SPTS Web sites. These Web sites can then be used to easily share files, join in discussions, and communicate all types of information to users. Users with appropriate permissions will be able to create a fully functional Web site without any prior Web design knowledge. These Web sites can contain any information that the user wants to share with other users on the network. Some of the possible items that will be in the SharePoint Web site include document libraries, discussion boards, Web document discussions, announcements, team events, surveys, shared favorites, custom lists, subscriptions, integration with client programs, and easy customization.
As more companies are making use of streaming audio and video in their businesses, Microsoft has improved the technologies to improve the performance of these technologies.
Streaming multimedia is always an issue for wide area networks. Windows .NET adds to the Quality of Service capabilities of Windows 2000 in order to ensure the quality of streaming media. This combination gives improved performance to audio and video communications.
Windows Media Player 8 (WMP8)
WMP8 is a new generation of Media Player. It builds on the functionality of previous versions. It includes many codecs that were not included in previous versions of Media Player. This improves the functionality and helps the users so that they do not have to download additional pieces via the Internet to make their video and audio files play.
