Ovals and rectangles can be drawn with the Line or Pencil tools. But the best tools for this purpose are the Oval and Rectangle tools. These shapes can be drawn with or without outlines. When the oval or rectangle tool is selected, the border color is determined by the stroke color, and the color of the shape's interior by the fill color. Opening the stroke panel and entering new stroke shape and height changes the qualities of the border.
Draw perfect circles and squares by holding down the Shift key as you draw with either the Oval or the Rectangle tool.
