The Web Is a Publishing Medium

They didn't call it Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for nothing. That's what publishers do—they mark up text on a page. Oh, yes, they are called web pages. And think about ecommerce for a moment. What's the key difference between traditional commerce and ecommerce? Traditional commerce is selling with people. Ecommerce is selling with content.

No matter how much technology you have on your website, if you don't have quality content, you won't have any visitors. And you can't have quality content on a consistent basis without professional publishing standards. Poor content is poor content, whether it has been personalized and zapped to your mobile over a 3G network or not.
