Once industries have created these artifacts, they need some way to share them within the industry and to companies outside its domain. This role is performed in ebXML by content registries, which contain the industry processes, messages, and vocabularies used to define the transactions exchanged with trading partners. Companies also will use ebXML registries to register the CPPs that list their specific e-business capabilities. This feature allows for discovery of potential trading partners by searching the registries for companies with the capabilities desired. Because these functions are critical for companies new to ebXML or those seeking to expand into new industries or find new trading partners, registries are considered the key to making ebXML work successfully.
