The Future Of JavaScript

With the ECMA standard bringing JavaScript and JScript together, the future of JavaScript on the Web is guaranteed. Both Netscape and Microsoft (who has another Internet Explorer—only scripting language based on its Visual Basic language called VBScript) have pledged that they will continue to both support and develop JavaScript in the future. In addition to Netscape and Microsoft's involvement, Opera Software has joined in by adding JavaScript support for their Opera browser since version 3.

This means that JavaScript is future-proof—you can learn how to write it today confident in the fact that it's not going to disappear in the near future. About the Difference
