Summary

Windows 2000 Server provides a number of enhancements for managing hard disks. Windows 2000 supports both basic disks and the new dynamic disks that do not limit the number of volumes you can create. Windows 2000 supports FAT, FAT32, and the new NTFS. By the use of storage solutions such as spanned volumes and striped volumes, you can more easily manage disk space usage, and Windows 2000 supports mirrored volumes and RAID-5 volumes for fault tolerance. Additionally, Windows 2000 Server provides a number of disk tools—such as Error Checking, Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter—to keep your hard drives working correctly and efficiently.
