Using Email on Your NOOKcolor

Email is a full-featured email app. Start Email by tapping Apps from the Quick Nav Bar. Then tap Email. The Email app appears. If this is the first time you are starting Email, you see the Welcome screen (see Figure 5).

Type in your email username and password. Your NOOKcolor connects with the email provider. After a few seconds, you receive the Congratulations screen (see Figure 6).

Update the Account Description if you want. Also, adjust the Emil Account Name, which makes it easy to find who’s email account it is if you share your NOOKcolor. Tap Done.

The NOOKcolor downloads your email in the Email app interface (see Figure 7).

So let’s get ourselves oriented to this interface (which, by the way, if you have already set up an account and then start the Email app is the screen you see initially).

  • Compose: Tap this compose an email.
  • Account: Tap this to change which email account you are viewing.
  • Folders: Tap this to see a different folder (Inbox, Sent, ToKeep, etc.).
  • Email Checkbox: Tap this to select an email to delete.
  • Delete: Tap this delete any selected emails.
  • Email: Tap this to open the email.
  • Sync: Tap this to connect with the email server and see if you have any new emails.
  • Search: Tap this to search your email.

Let’s look at a few of these items in more detail.

Tapping the Compose button opens up the Compose Email screen (see Figure 8).

In the To box, either type the email address you want to send the email to or tap the Contacts button and select a contact (or contacts). If you want to CC or BCC an email address, tap the CC:/BCC: line. This expands into two separate text boxes: one for CC and one for BCC.

If you want a subject line for your email, tap the Subject text box and type in the subject.

To begin typing your message, tap the large text box that states “Enter message here.” Type the email. When you are ready to send, tap Send. If you want to cancel your email, simply tap Cancel. Note that there currently is no draft option (you can always just email yourself if you need to save an email in progress).

Tapping the account button displays your existing accounts. Tap the account you want to shift to. Tap Accounts to add and modify accounts (see Figure 9).

If you want to delete an account, tap the checkbox next to that account and then tap the Delete button.

To add another account, tap Add Account. Enter your account information. If you want to make the new account the default account, tap the checkbox for Set as Default Account. Tap Next (the Next underneath the Set as Default Account option). Tap Done.

If you have more than one account and want to see all emails for all accounts in one screen, tap Accounts and then tap Combined Inbox.

Tap the gear button to access settings for the email account (see Figure 10).

You have a variety of options to choose from here.

Once you tap an email, the email opens (see Figure 11).

You have a number of options here, but the options are pretty typical of any email application. Tap the Reply button and then tap Reply, Reply All, or Forward.

Tap Move To and then select a folder.

If an attachment is included, tap Open to save the attachment. First, the attachment is saved to your My Files\My Downloads folder. Second, the attachment opens in the appropriate software (Gallery for images, Reader for PDFs, QuickOffice for Word, etc.).
