Independent Films

IndieGoGo

IndieGoGo is an online social marketplace that hooks up filmmakers and fans. Filmmakers build a page where they pitch their idea to the world, then promote it to build an audience. Fans can respond by watching a project, rating or commenting on it, or contributing to its funding. A cool idea for helping indie filmmakers pitch their ideas and build an audience.

Richmond Moving Image Co-op

The Richmond Moving Image Co-op (RMIC), staffed by volunteers, is based in Richmond, Virginia. RMIC strives to support independent film by providing public screenings, classes, and workshops. Filmmakers and fans can also get access to equipment, information, and resources. RMIC hosts the annual James River Film Festival and Flicker, a bimonthly screening of short films by local filmmakers. The site has a great Resources section for filmmakers.
