From the author of Acceptance

It wasn't easy to see that some of the classic Linux systems I've used since my first Linux install had been replaced with completely different programs. Then again, many other areas of Linux are under rapid development, so it makes sense that eventually these classic systems would get another look.

In the end, I suppose what's important is that we hold onto systems that work, while being ready to let go when a superior replacement comes along. After all, that's the philosophy that brought many of us to Linux in the first place.
