From the author of Volume

Next to the Brightness panel in the Mobility Center is the Volume panel. This control is another easy one—just a slider and a check box.

You use the slider to adjust your notebook's volume level. To lower the volume, move the slider to the left. To increase the volume, move the slider to the right.

If you want to immediately mute the sound, click the Mute control. Unclick this control to return to the previous volume level.

And, as with the Brightness setting, there's another somewhat hidden function in this panel. Click the speaker graphic and Windows opens the Sound dialog box, which you can use to adjust all the audio settings on your notebook. It's a quick way to another useful utility.
