Ports Used (Including Firewall)

This information is from the Vanish FAQ:

What ports should I enable in my firewall for Vanish to work?

  • If you are not experiencing problems with Vanish, you do not need to change any firewall settings.
  • Vanish requires access to the following ports: The firewall must allow UDP traffic (to the Internet) on port 48386 for DHT traffic.
  • Vanish listens for TCP connections from localhost (127.0.0.1) on ports 10080 and 10081 for communication between local Vanish components.

Debian/Ubuntu start-stop Vanish service is as follows:

# /etc/init.d/vanish start
# /etc/init.d/vanish stop

More usage information is available on the Vanish website.

Troubleshooting information can be found in the FAQ.
