Which Technologies Survive Telecom Sabotage?

Interestingly, one humorous episode occurred as a result of the April 9, 2009 incident in California. AT&T was dispatching status updates for its customers using one surviving technology—of all things, Twitter.

This account is quite similar to another story we heard about a company that was affected by the destruction of New York's World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. They used AOL Instant Messenger!

Is there a lesson to be learned by the two cases? You bet. If Twitter and AOL are useful in a disaster, just imagine some of the other, more sophisticated goodies we'll show you next time. Until then, happy planning!
