Wireless System Installers Certification Program
The National Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers (NARTE) offers two certifications in its Wireless System Installers Certification program. The program identifies individuals who install unlicensed systems while abiding by Federal Commmunications Commission (FCC) requirements. Systems include Bluetooth, UNII devices, AVIS, and PCS Systems, among others.
The requirements for NARTE's two wireless certifications are described as follows:
Wireless Systems Installers Technician: Wireless Technicians must provide four references, provide proof of six years' of experience and education (three years of which must be directly related to installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining unlicensed wireless networks), write and submit 10 multiple-choice questions that focus on wireless network design and installation, successfully complete the NARTE Wireless Installer Technician exam, and submit an application and fee.
Wireless Systems Installers Engineer: Wireless Engineers must provide four references, provide proof of nine years' of experience and education (three years of which must be directly related to designing, installing, and supporting unlicensed wireless networks), write and submit 10 multiple-choice questions that focus on wireless network design and installation, successfully complete the NARTE Wireless Installer Engineer exam, and submit an application and fee.
