This is hot off the proverbial presses: in keeping with recent industry trends among IT certification vendors to offer specializations for their mainline credentials, Cisco announced three new concentrations to extend their extremely popular (and respected) CCNA certification.
Here is how the new program works in a nutshell: in order to earn a CCNA concentration title, you must first qualify as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Once you have your CCNA in hand, you can then elect to take an additional computer-based test in one or more of the following three concentrations:
It should come as no surprise to you that Cisco performed a great deal of industry research to determine that the security, voice, and wireless skill sets are among the "hottest" in the IT marketplace. Your own field experience probably bears out the same facts.
Not much is known as of today with regard to specific facets of each concentration. However, I will keep you apprised as more information becomes available from Cisco.
