Opening the Recycle Bin
The Recycle Bin icon on the desktop differs slightly depending on whether it is empty as in Figure 11.5, or if files have been placed in the Recycle Bin and the bin appears full as in Figure 11.6.

To open the Recycle Bin, double-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop, select it using the arrow keys and then press Enter, or right-click the icon and choose Open from the pop-up menu.
The Recycle Bin window then opens (see Figure 11.7). The Recycle Bin window has the same look and much of the functionality as My Computer (see Lesson 8). Except for the network buttons, the toolbar is the same (if you can't see your toolbar, choose View, Toolbars from the menu). The status bar at the bottom of the screen shows the number of objects in the window or the number of selected items and the total amount of disk space they use.
