The My Computer window also has an Address Bar, which lists the path of the current folder. To view another folder, enter the path in the Address box and press Enter. The Address Bar contains a list of all locations on your desktop. If your Address bar is not showing, choose View, Toolbars, Address Bar from the menu.

The Address Bar also lets you open programs by simply typing the path and filename of the executable file that starts the program (such as C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe) and then pressing Enter.

If you're connected to an intranet or to the Web, enter the address of a Web page in the Address box (such as www.microsoft.com) and press Enter to open Internet Explorer and search for that page. When you use My Computer in conjunction with Internet Explorer, you might want to add the Links toolbar to your windows by choosing View, Toolbars, Links. The Links toolbar has buttons that act as shortcuts to Web pages. You don't have to open Internet Explorer first to open the Web pages available from the Links toolbar.
