Selecting Text for Copying or Moving

Before you can copy or cut text, you must identify the text by selecting it. Selected text appears in reverse video (highlighted). Figure 7.1 shows selected text in a WordPad document.

Figure 7.1 To cut or copy something, you must first select it. Here, a block of text is selected.

To select text, follow these steps:

  1. Position the mouse pointer just before the first character you want to select.
  2. Press and hold the left mouse button, and drag the mouse pointer to the last character you want selected.
  3. Release the mouse button, and the selected text appears highlighted.
