Retrieving and Reading Your Messages
When someone sends mail to you via the Internet, it arrives at your Internet mail server. To read the mail, you have to retrieve it from the server. You can do this manually or set up Outlook Express Mail to do it for you at timed intervals.
To retrieve your messages, log onto the Internet and click the Send and Receive button. Your incoming messages are placed in the Inbox. To view a list of messages, select the Inbox folder in the Folder List.
Unread messages appear in bold. To read a message, do any of the following:
- Select a message in the upper-right pane. Read its contents in the lower-right pane, as shown in Figure 15.5. To view the next unread message, press Ctrl+U.
Figure 15.5 Outlook Express displays a preview pane showing the contents of the selected message.
- Double-click a message in the upper-right pane to open the message in a separate window. After viewing the message, press Esc to close the window.
