5.0 out of 5 stars Go-To resource for Google TV app development, February 15, 2013

I highly recommend this book. It's clear, concise and covers everything you need to know regarding Google TV development.

All you really need are Java skills, the ability to work with an IDE (eclipse) and, hopefully, some Android.

What I also found very useful about this book were the basic Android examples, Layout Managers in particular. This is a topic that many Android developers struggle with and the author covers it in detail. That alone made the book worthwhile for me.

I love the Teach Yourself in 24 Hours series. This book is another great addition to the Sam's collection of programming books. Google TV is one of the newest and hottest emerging technologies and this books covers everything you need to know to get out there and make an app for your google tv. It doesn't matter if this is your first attempt at developing an app or if you are an experienced developer looking to move your app to this new exciting platform, either way, this is the book for you. Great Job!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to both Google TV and Android development, May 15, 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself Google TV App Development in 24 Hours (Paperback)
I'm an experienced Java developer but I'm completely new to both the Android O/S and to Google TV. As such I found this book to be a good introduction to both. The author does a great job of taking you from completely inexperienced to having a decent understanding of the platform and application development. I've used Eclipse for many years so I had a head start there, but I feel that anyone with an average understanding of Java could pick up this book and in very little time be developing applications for Google TV.

Whether you find yourself with a need to code for Google TV or are simply curious about the interactive TV platform, I think you'll find this book is a good starting point.
