Leading SAFe LiveLessons provides an in-depth exploration of the Scaled Agile Framework® (“SAFe®”) and how to lead a Lean-Agile transformation by leveraging SAFe and its underlying principles of lean systems thinking, agile development, and product development flow. By applying SAFe across the enterprise, software-dependent organizations can improve time-to-market, productivity, quality, and employee engagement, making them more agile in the marketplace and more competitive in their industry.
Description
The goal of this course is to equip you with the knowledge necessary to lead a Lean-Agile transformation at enterprise scale. Your guide will be Chief Methodologist Dean Leffingwell, the creator of the Framework. In his signature pragmatic style, Dean leads you through eight key lessons where you’ll get high-level overviews, as well as specifics where you most need them; exercises to test yourself on what you’ve learned; and at the end of the course, clear-cut steps you can take to start your journey of transformation. After watching this video, you can expect to have an understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework; Lean thinking and embracing Agility; how to apply SAFe principles; how to plan, execute, and implement an Agile Release Train; how to build an Agile Portfolio; and how to Scale Leadership to the next level of enterprise performance.

What You Will Learn
Who Should Take This Course
Course Requirements
Lesson 1:
Lesson 1, "Introducing the Scaled Agile Framework®," provides a high-level overview of SAFe®.
Lesson 2:
Lesson 2, "Thinking Lean and Embracing Agility," delves into the principles and the economic cornerstones of the Scaled Agile Framework, including Lean Thinking and the SAFe House of Lean key constructs, the Agile Manifesto, and Incremental Delivery.
Lesson 3:
Lesson 3, "Applying SAFe® Principles," discusses how the Framework builds upon Lean, Systems Thinking, and Agile development. Specifically, the lesson covers the 10 SAFe Principles.
Lesson 4:
Lesson 4, "Implementing an Agile Release Train," gets into the hands-on, practice-based part of this course, starting with implementing an Agile Release Train (or “ART”). An ART is a long-lived team of agile teams–typically 50 to 125 individuals—that serves as the program-level value delivery mechanism of SAFe. This is where you’ll learn the critical-path steps to successfully implementing an ART.
Lesson 5:
Lesson 5, "Plan a Program Increment," shows how to plan a Program Increment now that you are familiar with the Agile Release Train. A Program Increment (or “PI”) is to the release train as a sprint is to the Agile team: a cadence-based interval for accomplishing system-level value and feedback, but a much bigger quantum of both in this case.
Lesson 6:
Lesson 6, "Execute a Program Increment," guides you through each step of the process, from sprinting to releasing.
Lesson 7:
Lesson 7, "Implementing the Agile Portfolio," is an essential ingredient when it comes to your ability to scale SAFe principles in your enterprise. It includes how to define strategic themes and value streams, implement Lean-Agile budgeting, advance the solution with epics, forecast, and implement Agile program portfolio management.
Lesson 8:
Lesson 8, "Scaling Leadership–A Learning Journey," provides you with guidance and exercises that will help build your SAFe leadership skills, giving you the tools you need to effectively lead your Lean-Agile enterprise.
