Writing for supply chain professionals in any business, government agency, or military procurement organization, Moon explains what DSI is, how it differs from approaches such as SandOP, and how to recognize the symptoms of failures to sufficiently integrate demand and supply. For wide audiences of supply chain, logistics, and operations management professionals at all levels, from analyst and manager to Director, Vice President, and Chief Supply Chain Officer; and for researchers and graduate students in the field.

This review is from: Demand and Supply Integration: The Key to World-Class Demand Forecasting (FT Press Operations Management) (Hardcover)
After reading only through the first few chapters, it is evident that this is one of the most comprehensive and cutting edge treatments of demand planning, forecasting, and related subjects on the market. Many companies make the mistake of thinking that sales and marketing can operate independently of procurement and manufacturing, and the author not only demonstrates why this is not at all true, but what modern organizations can do to shape demand and adjust supply so that optimal efficiencies and effectiveness can be gained. In addition, the book is written so as to be accessible to new managers, but also has the depth and rigor needed to appeal to the experienced executive. The anecdotes are very helpful, and I could see this book being useful in both the managerial and academic settings as a truly revolutionary way of thinking about how multiple business functions can work in synchronization in order to give the organization an advantage. A truly excellent contribution.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I found this to be a very engaging and well written overview of the challenges of inventory stockpiling and dispersion of good in the global marketplace. The FT Press Operations Management is widely respected and this title is one of the best I've encountered on the subject. Filled with many good examples and worth your time.
