After reviewing the accompanying material in the CompTIA A+ 220-221/220-702 Certification Kit I found myself asking, "Where's the rest of it?" Don't get me wrong, this basic primer is loaded with some great information. I just don't like my data dump that watered down.The CD offers the same exact information as the 67 page reference guide. A small downer is that the DVD is only accessible via computer. The very basic online flashcards have their moments. More meat would have definitely been a plus for the cards. Thinking back, these tools are okay for Microsoft certified techs that want an occasional brain teaser. The size alone should be the immediate giveaway for people looking for more. Its not there. The tag "Certification Kit" is nothing more then a misleading marketing strategy. The weak point is the lack of information and those not so meaty flashcards. There's no way one can possibly become certified with this tool alone. It is nothing more then a primer.

I'll be straight up honest here: I was hoping this was a shortcut to certification. I was hoping that I could plow through some DVD or CD-based lessons, flip through a summary book, dash through some flashcards, and be certification test ready. That simply was not the case. This pack is great for positive reinforcement and for providing a non-boring way to study familiar material, but if you haven't already learned most of this material, I don't think this is going to teach it to you and allow you to retain it. That is to say, I have sat for the Network+ certification exam (narrowly failed), and the stuff that I was familiar with from that came easily to me while working with this material, but the stuff I was unfamiliar with I stayed unfamiliar with, even after multiple times through the flashcards and other lessons. If you are some kind of genius, you might get different results, but unless you've studied (and learned) this material before, you're going to need more than this to get...

The videos are good. Yet, I wonder where's the rest of it? It's far from complete and I got bored with it quickly. To me, this feels like a refresher course and not a course to pass the test.
