Lesson 1: Solution Overview, Downloadable Version

Lesson 1: Overview of the Cisco BYOD Smart Solution

In this lesson we will explore the Cisco BYOD Smart Solution. We will discuss the Cisco Validated Design for the BYOD Smart Solution and other released Whitepapers.

Duration: 00:12:20  File Size: 50 MB

Lesson 2

Lesson 2: ISE Configuration, Downloadable Version

Lesson 2: Basic ISE Configuration

Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is a cornerstone to the Cisco BYOD Smart Solution. During this lesson, we will discuss and configure the various building blocks within ISE that are required for an secure BYOD deployment.

Duration: 00:52:55  File Size: 197 MB

Lesson 3

Lesson 3: Adding NAS to ISE, Downloadable Version

Lesson 3: Adding NAS to ISE

A Network Access Server (NAS) is an access layer device via which an endpoint gains access to the network. This lesson will discuss the configuration steps required to register a NAS into ISE - highlighting how the Device's Location and Group membership can affect the level of network access given to the endpoint.

Duration: 00:15:23  File Size: 69 MB

Lesson 4

Lesson 4: Wired Configuration, Downloadable Version

Lesson 4: Wired Configuration (7 minutes)

The Cisco BYOD Smart Solution is designed to allow both corporate-owned wired infrastructure (such as PCs and printers) as well as wired personal devices brought from home by the employee. This lesson shows how to configure a Cisco Switch to authenticate and authorize the level of access given an endpoint via the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).

Duration: 00:40:53  File Size: 254 MB

Lesson 5

Lesson 5: Wireless Configuration, Downloadable Version

Lesson 5: Wireless Configuration

As mobile devices become more indoctrinated into the corporate environment - whereby everyone is using a smartphone, tablet, or wireless PC to check email and do daily work-related tasks—Enterprises need to on-board these devices securely. During this lesson, we will configure the wireless infrastructure and review several wireless deployment models, highlighting several benefits of each.

Duration: 00:41:23  File Size: 200 MB

Lesson 6

Lesson 6: AuthC Policy, Downloadable Version

Lesson 6: Authentication Policy (10-12 minutes)

Authentication Policy is the means by which Cisco ISE identifies the user and/or device that is accessing the network. We will apply the knowledge and building blocks that we established in Lesson 2 to construct the BYOD Authentication Policy.

Duration: 00:15:14  File Size: 71 MB

Lesson 7

Lesson 7: AuthZ Policy, Downloadable Version

Lesson 7: Authorization Policy (15 minutes)

Authorization Policy is the means by which Cisco ISE determines the level of network access to be given to a user and/or endpoint. During this lesson, we will leverage the Authorization building blocks that we learned in Lesson 2 to construct the BYOD Authorization Policy.

Duration: 00:51:27  File Size: 282 MB

Lesson 8

Lesson 8: Sponsor Configuration, Downloadable Version

Lesson 8: Sponsor Portal Configuration (12-15 minutes)

Many Enterprises like to provide a mechanism for visiting users to access the network—often for temporary inbound corporate traffic or Internet-bound traffic. Throughout this lesson, we will be configuring the Portal by which these temporary user accounts will be created.

Duration: 00:14:04  File Size: 62 MB

Lesson 9

Lesson 9: Guest Configuration, Downloadable Version

Lesson 9: Guest Configuration (15 minutes)

One of the largest concerns for BYOD customers is restricting unauthorized users from accessing secure corporate resources. We will review the Guest WLAN configurations and security policy during this lesson.

Duration: 00:36:58  File Size: 167 MB

Lesson 10

Lesson 10: Lost/Stolen Devices, Downloadable Version

Lesson 10: Lost/Stolen Devices (10 minutes)

With mobility being the large driver for BYOD and these mobile devices often being the most lost or stolen, we need to ensure a mechanism to quickly mitigate any unauthorized access to the corporate network. In this lesson, we will configure several options for disabling the network access to any lost or stolen device—either driven by the device owner or the administrators of the network.

4+ Hours of Video Instruction

Overview

Cisco Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Networking LiveLessons provides more than 4 hours of core video training covering Enterprise Mobility Architecture, Enterprise Network and Mobility, and onboarding of Consumer Devices—ensuring a differentiated, secure connection to the corporate network.

Description

Cisco Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Networking LiveLessons will introduce the viewer to the Cisco BYOD Smart Solution, focusing on version 2.5 of the Cisco Validated Design (CVD). The topics explained in this series will focus on the Cisco Smart Solution, but may be ubiquitous across other BYOD implementations.

Cisco Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Networking LiveLessons will begin with an explanation of the business model that makes BYOD such an appealing movement for IT organizations, from small businesses to large enterprises. As the business case is established, the author will then discuss the complete end-to-end BYOD architecture, taking a deep dive within each major topic area. The video training will cover everything from wired switchport access, wireless LAN configuration using Lightweight Access Points, as well as Guest access. The author will sometimes enrich the discussion points beyond the CVD topics to provide a complete, well-rounded approach to the Cisco BYOD Smart Solution.

Major sections are as follows:

Lesson 1: Overview of the Cisco BYOD Smart Solution

Lesson 2: Basic ISE Configuration

Lesson 3: Adding NAS to ISE

Lesson 4: Wired Configuration

Lesson 5: Wireless Configuration

Lesson 6: Authentication Policy

Lesson 7: Authorization Policy

Lesson 8: Sponsor Portal Configuration

Lesson 9: Guest Configuration

Lesson 10: Lost/Stolen Devices

Lesson 11: Mobile Device Managers (MDM)
