New Series Encourages and Challenges Readers to Advance in the Free Software World
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ-December 12, 2006- Prentice Hall Professional's new Negus Live Linux Series is debuting with two titles: Live Linux CDs by series editor Christopher Negus, and Practical PHP and MySQL: Building Eight Dynamic Web Applications, by Jono Bacon. Each book in the series includes "live" DVDs or CDs, which allows readers to run Linux, the free, open-source operating system, on their computers without installing software.
Live Linux CDs shows readers how to customize (SLAX or Damn Small Linux), remaster (KNOPPIX), or build from scratch (Fedora and Gentoo) live CDs. Special sections also help them build live CDs for presentations, multimedia, security, clustering, and firewalls.
Practical PHP and MySQL helps readers learn from eight ready-to-run applications, all backed by clear diagrams and screenshots, well-documented code, and practical explanations. Each application can be run live and modified from the bootable Ubuntu Linux live CD included with the book.
Christopher Negus has been one of the world's leading authors of Linux books for nearly a decade.
