Yukihiro Matsumoto

Yukihiro Matsumoto, also known as Matz, is a programmer, software engineer, and open source evangelist. He has been working with programming languages, object-oriented programming, and human-computer interfaces for over 15 years. In 1993 he started developing his own object-oriented language known as Ruby. He based Ruby on his experiences with Perl and Python, and his desire to create a language that focused on productivity and having fun. Matz was born and raised in Japan and is still living there.
