Daniel Bikel, IBM Research Staff Member, architected the distillation system for IBM's GALE multilingual information extraction and question-answering system. While pursuing his doctorate at U. of Pennsylvania, he built the first extensible syntactic parsing engine. He was NLP track co-chair for the 2008 International Conference on Semantic Computing.
