Alex Vrenios

Alex Vrenios is the director and chief scientist at the Distributed Systems Research Lab, a technical consulting group specializing in performance measurement and analysis of distributed computing architectures. Alex holds a Ph.D. in computer science, has authored several technical articles, and published a book titled Linux Cluster Architecture (Sams, 2002). He began his career maintaining communications software on mainframes 30 years ago, but he later switched to a networked C/UNIX environment, focusing on client/server and peer-to-peer interprocess communications, distributed algorithms, and cluster computing under Linux. His other interests include amateur radio, astronomy, photography, cycling, hiking, and motorcycle touring on a bright red PC800.
